The Office of Career Services Committee Members went through a three days rigorous and interactive capacity building training facilitated by trainers from Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) between 3rd May and 5th May 2023.
The aim of the training was to sensitize the members of the committee on the operations and functions of the Office of Career Services and to sensitize them on ways of improving service delivery of the office. The training challenged the Committee to leverage on ICT to improve the visibility of the University and the quality of the graduates that the University is releasing to the job market, to take advantage of students innovation to carve a niche for Machakos University, to look for ways of mobilizing resources and especially internally, strengthen labor market intelligence, linkages with potential employers, industries and stakeholders, inculcate entrepreneurial skills in all students irrespective of their courses, and prepare a strategic plan for the office that aligns itself to the University Strategic Plan.
The need to strengthen Academic and Career Guidance and Counselling, graduate tracking, equipping learners with soft skills, research and continually reviewing academic programs to meet market demands cannot be over emphasized.
